Description
Numbers 22-29 are a group of terraced houses dating from around 1825. They are constructed of stucco with tile roofs to numbers 22-23 and 28, and asbestos slate roofs to the others.
The houses are arranged in groups of two, with the outer bay set back behind a single-story porch, with the exception of number 22, which is a two-window range and is not set back. There is a flat-arched entrance with an overlight and a cornice and blocking course above, however, this is missing from number 24. All the windows are flat-arched. The ground floor features French windows framed by a tripartite porch. These porches lack mouldings, except for a minimal cornice on numbers 22-23 and 26-27. The porches also incorporate cast-iron railings to form a first-floor balcony. The first-floor windows have cornices supported by consoles, except for number 22. The third-floor windows retain their original sash designs, with the exceptions of numbers 25, 27, and 28. The building has bracketed eaves and hipped roofs, with stacks built into the party walls. Low stuccoed walls with cornices separate the front gardens from the pavement. Numbers 23-24 have corniced gate piers, while numbers 25-26, 27-28, and 29 have paired, corniced flat arches forming gateways, which are likely reconstructions. Number 29 also has a flat-arched, unmoulded arcade as a porch on its return facing into Norfolk Square, with scattered fenestration and a four-story extension to the east. The interiors were not inspected.
