Description

Numbers 15 to 18 are a group of early 19th-century terraced houses in stucco. The roofs are hidden behind a blocking course. The houses are three storeys and an attic over a basement, with two windows each. Number 16 has a round-arched entrance with a fanlight, ornamented with a vermiculated architrave and a keystone. Number 16 also features full-height quoin strips along the party walls. The ground floor of numbers 17 and 18 has banded rustication. To the left of the central entrance is a single-storey canted bay with tripartite windows that have flat arches and rounded corners and plain pilasters at the corners. A triple window is located to the left of the entrances to numbers 16 and 18. All windows are flat arched. A first-floor balcony with cast-iron railings is present on numbers 17 and 18. A storey band is located between the first and second floors on numbers 17 and 18. Numbers 16 and 17 have an entablature to the attic. The cornice to the second floor of number 16 is more elaborate than the cornices on the other two houses. The parapets of numbers 17 and 18 have been altered; originally, the three houses were designed as a single unit, culminating in a pediment, of which only traces remain above number 17. The interior was not inspected. Railings are present to the stairs and areas. Numbers 16 to 18 form a group of group value with numbers 1 to 13 and numbers 19 to 31. Number 15, which is a three-storey, one-window range building, is now included within the group for group value.
