Description
Numbers 6 and 7 College Place are a pair of early to mid-19th century terraced houses in stucco. The roofs are hidden by gables and coping. The exterior presents a three-storey-over-basement facade with a three-window range across the two units, designed in a Gothic Revival style. The houses are treated as three gabled bays, with a carriageway in the center. The central gable has a raised band and a finial to the right gable, with floriate crosses to the centre and left. The carriageway is Tudor arched, with panelled spandrels, a hood moulding and quoins to the jambs. Above the carriageway is a canted bay with a lean-to metal roof, and a two-storey canted bay sits on either side. All bay windows are flat-arched and tripartite. Quoin strips define the corners. The first-floor moulded sill band is missing from the right-hand gabled bay. Each second-floor window extends slightly into the gable above and has a segmental-arched upper sash set in a flat-arched, chamfered surround, with quoin dressings and a hood moulding. The entrances to the carriageway returns are identical, featuring flat arches with overlights, hood mouldings and chamfered jambs. The door at Number 7 is of original design, panelled in the shape of a Tudor arch. Party wall stacks are present. The interior was not inspected. Railings are present to the area of Number 7.
