Description

Montpelier Hall is a detached house built around 1850, located on Montpelier Terrace in Brighton. The building is constructed of stucco and has a slate roof. It stands two storeys over a basement, plus a dormer, and features a five-window range with a double-fronted design. The entrance is flat-arched and is sheltered by a bracketed metal canopy, flanked by pilasters and an entablature, leading to a broad doorcase that includes sidelights.

The ground-floor windows are round-arched, adorned with moulded stucco archivolts connected by springing bands, and feature keystones shaped like acanthus-leaf consoles hanging from the storey band. The first-floor windows have bracketed sills and architraves. The eaves are also bracketed, with shields on the frieze between the brackets. The roof is hipped, and there are stuccoed and corniced side stacks, along with an additional stack next to the central dormer.

The interior has not been inspected. The property includes stuccoed and corniced flank walls in the area, gate piers, and cast-iron railings leading to the entrance steps and area.
