SU97SW PIGEONHOUSE LANE 674-1/13/260 (South side (off)) Classical Rotunda in the grounds of Ascot Place, approx 590m NW of the house

Classical rotunda. Early C19 by CC Ferard. Stone, lead covered domed roof. Circular plan with 8 Corinthian columns. Stylobate of 3 steps. Moulded fascia, plain frieze, moulded cornice with guttae. Soffit of dome alternating oval and lozenged segments culminating in octagonal carved boss. The rotunda forms part of the garden listed II* in the Register of Parks and Gardens of Special Interest in England. (Register of Parks and Gardens of Special Historic Interest: Part 3 : Berkshire).
