SU97SW PIGEONHOUSE LANE 674-1/13/259 (South side (off)) Gothic seat in the grounds of Ascot Place, approx 220m NW of the house

Gothic seat. Early C19 by CC Ferard. Stone and rendered brick. Segmental plan with open 3 bay pointed arch arcade on north. 4 piers with clustered shafts, moulded bases and moulded impost bands enriched with foliage carving. Elaborate heads with acanthus leaves and bead and reel ornament. Frieze of blank, cusped arcading; moulded cornice, embattled parapet and crocketed finials at corners. Wood seat with fluted fascia and delicate arch pattern back rest. The seat forms part of the garden listed II* in the Register of Parks and Gardens of Special Interest in England.
