Description
Old Hazelwood Farmhouse is a farmhouse that has been converted into a house. It dates from the early 18th century, with alterations made in the early 19th century and an extension added in the late 20th century. The building features painted brickwork in Flemish bond and has tiled gabled roofs.
The farmhouse has a rectangular plan, with an irregular rear that includes a single bay extension on the east and three gables on the north side. It stands two storeys tall with an attic and has three tall chimneys topped with clay pots, one of which has a very large base that may contain a bread oven. The windows are 19th and 20th century, featuring two-light casements with diamond leading set under pointed arches made of tumbled bricks; the windows on the extension have flat heads.
The entrance is located on the north front, which has three gables, each consisting of a single bay. There is a black painted low plinth, and near the center is a four-panel door with pointed upper panels set in a chamfered reveal with a four-centred head. The interior has not been inspected.
