Description

Tudor Cottage is a cottage and adjoining house, now combined into a single residence, dating to the late 16th century. It has undergone alterations and extensions in the late 20th century, and a mid-19th century section was also altered and extended in the late 20th century. The construction incorporates timber framing with painted rendered infill, alongside painted render. The roofs are gabled and feature old tiles of varying heights.

Originally arranged in an L-shape with a 2x2 framed bay layout, the building now has extensions to the north and south. The exterior is two storeys high and includes three chimneys, two of which have offset heads and clay pots. The windows are mostly C19 and C20 casements, with some leaded lights.

The west-facing front has an irregular appearance; timber framing is visible but with a false timbering on one bay, and a lower extension to the left. A gable is present on the right side. A central section features a three-light window on the first floor and two coupled two-light windows on the ground floor. A C20 planked door is set within a moulded wooden frame, and is sheltered by a tiled, gabled porch.

The north-facing front presents two gables with a recessed central section. The left-hand gable is blank and marks the end of the C19 section. The right-hand gable displays a single bay with two-light casement windows on both floors, dated to the late 20th century. The central section is part of the original 16th-century build, exposing the timber frame, and features a small gabled roof dormer and two single-light C20 windows on the ground floor.

The interior was not inspected. The section originally referred to as "House adjoining Tudor Cottage" was listed on December 20, 1972.
