Description
No. 70 on West Street is a building dating from the mid to late 18th century, though it is said to have an earlier origin. It has two storeys and features painted weatherboarding with three sash windows. The ground floor includes two three-light sash windows and a central Doric porch with an open pediment and back pilasters. The entrance has a half-glazed door with nine bull's eye panes. The building has dentilled eaves and an old tile roof. To the left, there is a wing from the late 18th to early 19th century, which has one sash window that is three panes wide, positioned at an intermediate level. This wing has a painted brick front with a capped parapet. The wing to the right has been demolished. No. 70 is part of a group that includes Nos 42 and 48, as well as Nos 50 to 64 (even) and Nos 70 to 80 (even).
