Description
10A and 10 West Street is a building from the 18th century located in Carshalton. The southern part, No 10, was originally an open-sided barn, dating back to around 1720, which has since been converted into a house. It is a single-storey structure with painted weatherboard cladding on the west and south walls. The modern openings include, from right to left, a modern dormer with a vehicular entry below, a three-light casement window, a weatherboarded porch, and a four-light casement window with small panes.
The northern part, No 10A, is two storeys high and features one sash window on the upper floor and a modern square bay window with two sashes and a cornice on the ground floor. There is a door located at the side. The building has an old tiled roof and consists of two parallel ranges, with the rear range being lower.
Nos 2 to 12 (even), Nos 18, 20, 22, and 24 form a group with Nos 3 to 11 (odd) and No 15 West Street, along with the Water Pavilion to Carshalton House, the boundary wall to Carshalton House in West Street, and The Old Rectory on Festival Walk.
