Description
This is a row of houses with shops on the ground floor, dating from the mid to late 18th century. The building is located on the south side of High Street, Wimbledon. It is constructed of brown brick with a tiled, gabled mansard roof that extends to the parapet. The houses are two storeys high and include dormers. Number 34 has one bay, while numbers 32 and the combined premises of 33 and 33A each have two bays.
The shop fronts are from the mid to late 19th century and are of good quality. The shop front to number 34 is particularly elaborate, featuring arched windows and spiral Ionic cast iron columns supporting plate glass. The upper floors have segmental headed recessed sash windows with glazing bars to number 33, and canted timber bay windows with sashes to the other houses. A brick dentil cornice runs along the top of the building, topped by a coped parapet. Square headed dormers are set into the roof. Number 32 has a return to its left side that is partly weatherboarded. The rear elevations are also weatherboarded.
