Description

This is a row of houses, originally dating from the 18th and early 19th centuries, with later shop fronts. The buildings are constructed of brown local brick. Numbers 8 to 10 have three bays and two storeys, featuring a good 19th-century shop front with two doorways and reeded pilasters. Number 12, with two bays and two storeys, has a shop front dating to the mid-20th century. Numbers 14 and 16 are two storeys and incorporate a 19th-century square bay and a 20th-century shop front at ground-floor level. Most of the upper-floor windows are sash windows with glazing bars, although number 14 has a later canted bay, and number 16 has later glazing. A late 19th-century extension to the rear of numbers 8 to 10 is not considered to be of architectural interest. Numbers 12 to 16 have dentilled eaves. The roofs are covered with pantiles, and numbers 14 to 16 have a new pantile roof.
