Description
Claremont House is a substantial house dating from the late 17th century, with 18th century and later alterations. It is constructed of brown brick with red dressings and features a hipped plain tile roof that extends to the eaves. The building has two storeys and is seven windows wide, including two projecting bays on the right side, which contain a 20th century shop at the ground floor. The entrance is located at the centre of a recessed wing and is framed by square-headed architraves and a decorative fanlight. The ground floor has segmental-headed windows, while the upper floor features square-headed windows, all with flush framed sashes and glazing bars. A moulded brick band runs between the storeys, and there is an eaves cornice. The house also has three dormer windows. At the rear, there is a timber-framed wing to the northeast, and a turned baluster staircase is present inside the house.
