Description

This is a pair of cottages located on Denmark Road in Merton, dating from the mid to late 19th century. They are believed to have been designed by S S Teulon. The cottages are constructed of brick with contrasting brick dressings and have tall Welsh slate roofs, with large, corniced brick stacks. They are two storeys high, with the upper windows set in cross-gables, some of which are half-hipped. The windows are casement types, some of which have been altered and are set beneath segmental arches. The front doors are boarded and feature decorative ironwork within pointed arches. Decorative tumbled brickwork is present on the gable ends. The cottages form an integral part of a planned layout that includes numbers 47-51 and 54-73 on the same road.
