Description

A pair of houses located in Berkeley Place, London, dating from around 1890, and designed by James Ransome. The houses are built of red brick, with some rendered areas and tile hanging to the upper storeys, and have pitched tiled roofs extending to the eaves. They were designed as a contrasting pair.

Number 13 has two main bays and a decorative, scrolled Dutch gable. Number 14 also has two main bays and a plain tile-hung gable with an inset oriel window. Number 13 features a projecting porch with dentil cornicing, turned balusters, and swept handrails to the steps. The entrance to Number 14 is round-headed. The windows are square-headed, with timber mullions; Number 13 has dentil cornices and plate glass, while Number 14 has a canted bay window to the ground floor and some leaded lights. The left return of Number 13 is also noteworthy, featuring a large round-headed entrance, now blocked.
