Description

This is a row of six cottages located on Denmark Road in Merton, built in the mid to late 19th century and likely designed by S S Teulon. The cottages are constructed of brick with contrasting decorative brick dressings, including tumbling-in detail to the gables. They have tall Welsh slate roofs and tall corniced brick stacks. Each cottage is two storeys high, with a single wide bay, and the upper window rises into the cross-gable. The end houses have larger gables. The windows are two- and three-light transomed casements set within segmental gauged brick arches. The ground floor has pointed arches over boarded doors, with decorative ironwork. A first floor band runs along the front. The row forms an integral part of a planned layout, connecting with numbers 47–53 on the same road.
