Description

The Gates Monument at St Mary's Church is a tomb dedicated to Isabella Gates, who died in 1782. It is constructed of yellow stock brick and features inset marble inscription panels on the sides and ends. The monument has a Portland stone ledger and base. Originally, it was surrounded by cast iron railings, which were likely removed during World War II. The inscription panels have recessed borders, and the chest of the monument has recently been repaired.
