Description

Poplar Cottage is an 18th-century house with 19th-century alterations located on the west side of High Street in Cowley. The building has two storeys and three windows, constructed of dull red brick with brighter red dressings. It features a first-floor band and a 19th-century Welsh slate roof with a moulded wood eaves cornice. The cottage has 18th-century sash windows with glazing bars in exposed frames, and the first-floor windows are moulded. There are bracketed wide cills with cast iron guards that were added in the mid-19th century. The original door consists of six fielded panels set in a wide wood frame, topped by a radial fanlight. A late 19th-century wooden porch is present, along with a one-storey extension on the right side.
