Description

The Crown Public House is a timber-framed building dating from the 16th century, located on the east side of High Street in Cowley. It has two storeys and features two windows, with a front facade of yellow brick and a projecting glazed ground floor typical of public houses. To the left, there is a projecting two-storey wing from the 19th century, which has a hipped roof. The roofs of the building are now covered with machine-made tiles, and the windows are either from the 19th century or are modern replacements. The older back section of the building is rendered and whitewashed. Inside, there is a significant amount of exposed stout timber, including swell-head posts.
