Description

The Old House is an 18th-century building located on the west side of High Street in Cowley. It is a two-storey house with an attic and features three windows. The roof is hipped and covered with swept tiles, and it has two later hipped dormers. The eaves have a bracketed soffit. The front of the house is now rendered, but a brick dentil cornice is still visible. The windows are sash style with glazing bars, and those on the ground floor are situated under console bracketed cornices. The entrance door has four fielded panels and two beaded panels, topped with a traceried fanlight. This door is framed by a doorcase featuring fluted and reeded columns, a broken entablature with an enriched cornice, and an open pediment above a coffered intrados.
