Description

Wykham Cottage is an 18th century timber-framed cottage located at 218 High Street in Hornchurch, with 19th century extensions. The cottage is rendered and features applied timber-framing on the front elevation. It has two storeys and four bays, with a dormer at the east end. The front has two semi-circular headed windows, with the western one being a modern replacement for an original door. Above these, there is one square headed window. The door is now located in the second bay from the west, and there is an additional door on the western return elevation. The western window on the front has a depressed pointed arch with simple tracery, and there are two square headed windows above it. The cottage has an end stack at the east and a rear stack at the west. The roof is covered with old tiles, which have a lower pitch at the western end, while the eastern end is covered with slate.
