Description

Dury Falls is an early 17th-century timber-framed house, with mid-17th century and later additions. The house is rendered and colourwashed, with a front facade of five bays. The three eastern bays represent the earliest part of the building, while the two western bays, one of which is roofed at a right angle to the main range, were added in the mid-17th century. A two-story canted bay window is present on the cross-wing, and a further single-story canted bay is located to the east. All windows are 19th-century sashes with cambered heads. The main entrance is in the fourth bay from the west. The roof is tiled. A fine brick stack features six diagonal shafts, with two further shafts at the north end of the cross-wing. The rear of the house includes a timber-framed wing with a weatherboarded staircase turret on the west side, and a large 19th-century north wing. A single-story addition from the 19th century extends westwards from the main facade. At the rear are fish ponds or remnants of a moat.
