Description
92 Greenwich South Street is a two-storey house built from yellow brick with a slate roof, featuring a basement. The layout consists of rooms arranged on either side of a central hall that includes a dog-leg stair. The principal room on the ground floor to the left of the hall is double-depth.
The exterior showcases a symmetrical three-bay facade topped with a shallow hipped roof. The central entrance is framed by a moulded stucco surround with an eared segmental-hood headed architrave and a six-panel door, above which is a blind window. The windows are six-over-six pane sliding sashes, each with flat gauged-brick arches above. There are two chimney-stacks on the right side and one on the left. The brickwork was originally tuck-pointed, and some of this detailing remains visible.
Inside, the house retains a good selection of interior fittings and decorative features, including marble and wooden chimneypieces with cast-iron grates, reeded cornices, and window architraves adorned with paterae ornament at ground floor level, along with six-panelled doors. The staircase features column newels, stick balusters (with turned balusters on the landing), and a swept mahogany handrail. The basement has undergone significant alterations.
