Description
St Martin's War Memorial in West Acton is made of rough-hewn granite and features a wheel-head cross with a shaft, which is set on a tapered plinth. The inscriptions on the memorial are leaded and painted black. The center of the cross has the inscription “HE GAVE HIMSELF.”
At the bottom of the shaft, the main inscription reads: "TO THE GLORY OF GOD AND IN PROUD AND GRATEFUL MEMORY OF THE MEN FROM THIS PARISH WHO FELL IN THE GREAT WAR 1914 – 1918." The plinth lists the names of those who fell during the First World War.
