Description
Acton Hill Methodist Church was built in 1907 by the architectural firm Gordon & Gunton. The church features a rubble-faced exterior with a tower located at the north-east corner, designed in a free Gothic style. At the north end of the nave, there is a double window accompanied by a triple window below it. A low entrance porch is situated to the right, with another entrance located under the tower.
Inside, the church consists of six bays leading to an apse. The four west bays include a gallery on three sides, which is partly set within an arched recess. There are side chapels in the two east bays of the nave, positioned behind a two-bay arcade that showcases Decorated Gothic style, featuring an octagonal intermediate pier with a moulded capital. The responds and their arch moulding extend down to the floor. The east apse is highlighted by a large moulded four-centre arch with a hood-mould and houses the organ. The roof is made of timber, and the south-east chapel is adorned with a traceried timber screen. The four-light nave windows are fitted with art-nouveau Gothic style leaded lights.
