Description

The gate pier near the junction with Finchley Road in Hampstead Garden Suburb was built between 1909 and 1910, likely designed by H. C. Hollis and C. P. Wade, who were assistants in the Parker and Unwin office. The pier is constructed of brick and tile and has a square plan, standing approximately two and a half meters tall. Each face of the pier features a gable finish with tile covering on the cross roof capstone. The tile courses alternate with brick, creating decorative patterns on each face. There are remnants of a low wall attached to the pier, but this is not of special interest. The gate pier is part of a group that includes Nos. 1 and 3, as well as No. 2, and it also relates to the pier opposite.
