Description
The Clock Tower War Memorial, unveiled in 1923, is a war memorial that may have been designed by Frank T Dear. It is constructed from Portland stone and features a battered tower that rises from a broader square plinth. The design suggests a classical order, with a deep frieze and cornice topped by a set-back cenotaph. Each side of the tower has a clock face, with the words 'Loyalty', 'Justice', 'Courage', and 'Honour' inscribed on them. One side also bears the inscription 'Their Name Liveth For Evermore' along with a plaque that reads 'To the Memory of the Men of Golders Green who made the Supreme Sacrifice 1914-1918'. Additionally, there is another plaque added as a plinth to commemorate the fallen of 1939-1945. The memorial is very similar to the already listed war memorial for the fallen of Stockwell in Lambeth.
