Description
This is a terrace of early 19th-century houses at 34-40 Star Street, Westminster. The facades of numbers 37 and 38 have been rebuilt above ground floor level, and the second-floor facades of numbers 34-6 have also been rebuilt. The building is constructed of brown brick with a stuccoed ground floor, and the roof is concealed. It is three storeys tall plus a basement, with two bays per house. Numbers 34-37 feature round-arched entrances, with a fanlight over the entrance to number 37. The windows are 16-pane sashes. Numbers 38-40 have significantly altered 19th and 20th-century shop fronts. Above these, sashes with glazing bars are set within flat brick arches. The building is listed for group value, as it contributes to a remarkably complete street of modest early 19th-century houses.
