Description
Nos. 30 and 31 Long Acre are commercial premises built around 1870-1880. The building is constructed of stock brick, featuring red brick bands and stucco dressings, topped with a slate roof. It showcases eclectic Italianate detailing and stands five storeys tall, with a width of three windows. The ground floor has a wooden-faced warehouse frontage with an entablature that is flanked by scrolls. The first and second floors have architraved casement windows, articulated by pilasters, and feature large central Venetian windows with enriched arched lights, flanked by twisted columns. Above these, there are two lights in the tympanum with flanking scrolls. The building includes string courses and an enriched fourth floor, which is adorned with a band and a crowning cornice that has a blocking course inscribed "CARRIAGE MANUFACTORY."
