Description
No. 116 Long Acre is a commercial building dating from around 1895. It features red brick construction with terracotta detailing and a slate roof, showcasing Flemish Renaissance-inspired design. The building stands four storeys tall with attics and has three windows facing Long Acre, along with a four-window return to Langley Street.
The ground floor includes an entrance on the left, which is topped by an elaborate elliptical glazed fanlight inscribed "Langley House." This entrance is flanked by polished granite pilasters that support an entablature with a dentil cornice. The upper floors are arranged with fenestration in two window bays and one window bay. The first-floor windows are two-light mullioned sash windows with semi-elliptical arches, while the third-floor windows feature broken scrolled pediments. The building is adorned with enriched string courses and pinnacles, culminating in a crowning Dutch gable. The return side also displays similar architectural details, including a blind second-floor window that bears the date 1895 above a decorative swag.
