Description
Nos 24 and 26 Shelton Street is a warehouse built in the early 19th century, originally part of a brewery complex. The building is constructed of stock brick and has a slate roof. It features three main storeys and an attic, with a regular four-window wide front facing Shelton Street and a three-window gabled return to Langley Street. The ground and first floor openings have been altered and are set in semicircular arched recesses, while the second floor windows were modified in the mid-20th century. The Langley Street return has segmental arched ground floor windows with fixed glazing bars and semicircular arched first floor windows with the same fixed glazing. There is a first-floor plat band, a main brick cornice at the second floor level, and a stucco cornice and parapet above. This building is a rare example of warehousing from this period and quality, especially following the demolitions in Dockland.
