Description

This terrace, located at 23 to 53 Norfolk Square, was likely built in the 1850s and is constructed from brick with a stucco finish. The roof is concealed, and the terrace stands four storeys tall, with an attic and basement, featuring three bays for each house. The projecting porches have segment-arched openings that are flanked by pilasters and consoles.

Notably, houses numbered 31 to 47 have undergone significant alterations at the ground floor level. Each house has a balcony on the first floor with a stucco balustrade. The windows are arranged in triple groups, set within architraves that include a frieze and cornice, with pediments above the central windows. The second-floor sash windows are also framed in architraves adorned with lion heads, and there is a pulvinated frieze and cornice above them. The third-floor sash windows are set in architraves on a moulded sill, and there is a decorative band on the fourth floor. The sashes on this level are also framed in architraves. The terrace features a dentilled cornice that is not continuous, and there are iron railings with arrowhead designs at the basement level. This listing is included for its group value.
