Description
The gates and gatepiers to Coalbrookdale Gate, located in Kensington Gardens, date from around 1860 and are an exceptionally fine example of Victorian Rococo design. This set includes nine gates and eight gatepiers. The outer pair of piers is made of rusticated Portland stone and features elaborate urn finials. The remaining piers are crafted from decorative openwork cast iron, topped with crowns and cherub pedestals. The gates themselves are adorned with intricate foliage scrolls and cartouches.
