Description

Albert Hall Mansions, numbers 1 to 30, is a block of mansion flats constructed in 1879 and designed by R. Norman Shaw. The building is executed in red brick with a slate pitched roof and is an example of the Queen Anne style. It is five storeys tall, with two additional storeys in the roof, and spans twelve bays. Bays 2, 3, 5, 7, 9, and 11 are paired and feature scrollwork gables, with the intervening bays set back. Arched links connect the upper floors. Wrought iron balconies are present on the second, third, and fifth floors. The windows are sash and casement types, characterised by small panes and glazing bars, with segmental headed windows arranged in triplets. Tall chimneys are prominent features. A triple arched entrance is located on the south front. The building has group value with numbers 31 to 48 and 49 to 82.
