Description

No. 62, St Martin’s Lane is a terraced house dating from circa 1753, and subsequently altered. The house is stucco-faced with a concealed roof. It is four storeys high and two windows wide. The ground floor has a mid-20th century frontage and a covered way to the right. Upper floors feature square-headed recessed sash windows with glazing bars intact on the second and third floors, set within plain architraves. Horizontal plat bands are visible on the first and third floors, with another plat band below the parapet and coping. The interior retains a cut string staircase, panelling, cornices and other original features. The house is located adjacent to the site of Thomas Chippendale’s workshops, as marked by a Greater London Council plaque on the jamb of No. 61.
