Description
The Westminster County Court is a Grade II listed building constructed in 1908 by H.N. Hawks from the Office of Works, featuring carving by Gilbert Seale. It is built from Portland stone ashlar with a slate roof and showcases a restrained Free Classical style. The building has three storeys and an attic, with a width of five windows. The central entrance is topped with the Royal Arms. The ground floor features flat voussoir-arched windows with recessed sashes and prominent mask keystones. The upper floors have recessed sashes with pediments on the first floor and cornices, while the top floor windows are arranged in pairs and framed by Ionic columns. The façade is further enhanced by channelled quoin pilasters, string courses, and sill courses, with a main modillion cornice that is topped at each end by paired dies.
