Description

A terrace of houses at 41-95 Inverness Terrace, dating from the mid-19th century. The buildings are constructed of brick with stucco dressings. The ground floor features channelled stucco. The terrace presents a balanced appearance, with a central group of five houses and end groups of four houses, each set forward slightly. The central houses have fluted Corinthian pilasters between the bays on the first and second floors. The end houses have similar pilasters delineating each house. The terrace is three storeys high with an attic and basement. Each house is two windows wide, and includes projecting Ionic porches. The first floor features bombé balconies, while the windows are square-headed except for those on the second floor, which are round-headed. Architraves are above the ground floor windows, and segmental pediments feature above the first-floor windows, with triangular pediments to the projecting houses. The windows are sash windows with margin glazing, with French casements to the first floor. A cornice runs above the second floor, with a subsidiary cornice to the attic. The terrace is further characterized by cast iron area railings.
