Description
This is a range of workshops built in 1902-1903 by Reginald Blomfield. The building, located at 1-7 Davies Mews and incorporating numbers 28-30 South Molton Lane, was designed in the style of a Georgian stable block. It is constructed of red brick with stone dressings and a slate roof. The two-storey main range features six bays emphasized by large brick pilasters, prominent flat eaves, and segmental-pedimented dormers in the roof, flanked by three-storey terminal pavilions. The pavilions have stone banding and parapets. A central break in the main range originally contained a semi-circular keystone-arched entrance, which has since been blocked. Ground floor workshop doorways are present, and the first floor is lit by groups of three sash windows divided by pilasters set beneath the eaves. The attic storey of the terminal pavilions has Diocletian windows. The corner where Davies Mews meets South Molton Lane is splayed, with a short return section that replicates the detailing of the main building.
