Description
Nos. 166 and 166A on Randolph Avenue are a pair of shops built between 1906 and 1907 by architect Leslie W. Green. They are part of the Maida Vale underground station. The shops are constructed from red glazed faience, and their roofs are obscured. The building features two bays, with a third bay on the left that is under the return of the station elevation. The design includes tall segmental headed piers and deep parapets between the shop fronts. The shop front for No. 166 retains its original glazed shopfront with a part-glazed door that has margin lights, set back beneath an overlight with diagonal glazing bars. The shop front for No. 166A, located to the left, is a later 20th-century addition. These shops are included in the listing for their group value as part of the station.
