Description
No. 4 Carlisle Street is a terrace house with late 17th century fabric that was refronted in the 18th or 19th century. It features painted brick and a tiled roof, standing four storeys tall and two windows wide. The ground floor has been altered but still retains an early 19th century doorway on the left. This doorway features a door with six fielded panels, likely from the 18th century, flanked by fluted pilasters with flower embossed caps. The frieze above is decorated with oval paterae and has a prominent cornice. The upper floors have recessed glazing bar sash windows set under flat gauged arches with stone sills. The building has a parapet with coping and mid-20th century area railings. Inside, there are fragments of cornice and part of a dog leg staircase with turned balusters.
