Description

No. 2 York Street is a terraced house that was rebuilt in the style of a late 18th century (around 1790-1800) Portman Estate terrace house. It features stock brick construction with a channelled stuccoed ground floor and a slate roof. The building has four storeys, including a dormered mansard above a basement, and presents a two and three-window wide front. To the left, there is a semicircular arched doorway with a fanlight. The windows are recessed sashes set under gauged flat arches. A continuous early 19th century patterned metal balcony runs along the first floor. The house also has a stucco cornice and a blocking course. It is included in the register for its group value.
