Description
No. 22 York Street is a terraced town house built around 1810 to 1820 as part of the Portman Estate development linked to Baker Street and Gloucester Place. The building is constructed of stock brick and features a concealed slate roof. It stands four storeys tall with a basement and has three windows across its façade. To the right, there is a semicircular arched doorway with a panelled door set in reeded jambs and head, topped with a fanlight and framed by broad pilasters and an archivolt. The windows are recessed sashes beneath flat gauged red brick arches. At the top, there is a stucco modillion cornice and a blocking course. A continuous wrought iron balcony adorns the first floor, and the area is enclosed by cast iron railings with urn finials.
