Description

No. 18 Charles Street is a terrace house built around 1753. It is constructed of brown brick and features a slate roof. The building has four storeys and a basement, with a width of three windows. The doorway is located to the right and includes a rectangular fanlight set within an architrave case that has a cornice supported by consoles. The windows have revealed sashes without glazing bars, positioned under flat gauged arches. There is a band cornice above the second floor and a parapet with coping at the top. Early 19th-century cast iron balconettes adorn the first-floor windows, and there are wrought iron area railings with flambé torch finials. Inside, the house retains a cut string staircase with wrought iron balusters, along with cornice mouldings and restrained plasterwork on the ceilings.
