Description

This is a terrace of pairs of houses with associated garden walls and gateways, built in the 1840s in Westminster. The terrace comprises numbers 4 to 18 (even). The buildings are constructed of brick with stucco finishes, and have Welsh slate roofs. Each pair of houses is three storeys high, with four bays, and two-storey recessed entrance wings to the sides. Numbers 6 to 16 have entrances incorporated into a linking screen wall, featuring a central arched opening with a keyed arch, dentilled cornice, and a balustrade at the first-floor level. The entrances have four-panel doors with fanlights above. The ground floor of the central bays is defined by a sill band. Casement windows are set within architraves, with pulvinated friezes and cornices supported on consoles. First and second floors also have sill bands, and sashes with cornices. The second floor windows have glazing bars. The building has modillioned overhanging eaves supported by a hipped roof. The front garden is enclosed by stuccoed walls that ramp up to gateways with tiled lintels.
