Description

TQ 3079 NW CITY OF WESTMINSTER PARLIAMENT STREET, SW1 92/31 (east side) 13.5.83 Nos 38 and 39 G.V. II Offices. c1870-80. Portland stone faced, slate roof. Late Italianate classicism. 4 storeys with tall ground floor on basement. 5 windows wide. Ground floor rusticated and arcaded with central doorway, the arcade framed by full Doric order of pilasters and entablature. Eared architrave sashes to upper floors, those on 1st floor pedimented, those on 2nd floor with swept cornices except for segmental pedimented central window. Moulded sill courses. Crowning entablature with dentil band, modillion cornice and blocking course. Ornamental cast iron balconettes on 1st floor. Heavy cast iron area railings.
