Description

No. 37 Parliament Street is a chambers and shop building from around 1870, located in the City of Westminster. It is constructed from Portland stone and features a slate roof, designed in an eclectic Renaissance style with round arches. The building stands five storeys tall with a stone dormered mansard roof. Its narrow front is three windows wide, with the windows closely grouped together.

The ground floor has an altered shop front that retains the frame of granite Doric columns set on tall pedestals, topped with a cornice supported by console brackets. The first, second, and third floors are flanked by giant piers capped with decorative finials and feature groups of arcaded windows. The central arch on the second and third floors is broader than the flanking arches. The fourth floor has segmental arched windows with keystones. The building is adorned with carved ornamentation and has cast iron continuous window guards. A cornice with a blocking course is interrupted by a centrally located, eclectically ornamented stone dormer, which is now flanked by mid-20th century dormers. This building is included for its group value only.
