Description
Nos 34 to 36 Parliament Street is a corner block of offices and a shop, built around 1900 with a later attic. The building is constructed from Portland stone and features a slate roof in a modified northern Renaissance style. It stands six storeys tall, with a later dormered mansard. The prominent corner site at Bridge Street has a five-window wide front and a curved one-window corner. The ground floor includes mid-20th century shop fronts set between pilasters that support an entablature. The upper floors are adorned with mullioned-transomed windows and shallow oriels, particularly at the corner. Each floor has pseudo-parapets with some carved ornament, and balconies project from the third and fourth floors. The attic was likely originally gabled. This building is included for its group value.
