Description
Nos 45 and 46 Parliament Street are a pair of terraced town houses built around 1750 to 1753, with a rebuild or refronting that occurred between 1860 and 1870. They are constructed from Portland stone and topped with slate roofs, showcasing an Italianate classical style. The buildings rise five storeys and include a basement, with each house featuring three windows across the front. The entrances are centrally located and consist of panelled doors with rectangular fanlights, all framed by stone architraves that have cornices supported by consoles. Access to the entrances is via a single flight of steps. The windows are architraved and recessed, featuring plate glass sashes with cornices and pediments above on the first floor. There are sill courses at the first and second floors, and a bold crowning cornice with modillion brackets caps the buildings. Additionally, there are cast iron area railings.
