Description

The gates and piers at the entrance to Derby Gate, located next to Cannon Row Police Station, were constructed around 1904 by J. Dixon Butler, with Norman Shaw as a consultant. They are made of granite ashlar and cast iron. The design features a screen wall with weathered coping that includes a pedestrian gate and carriage gates. The gate piers are channelled and tapered, topped with scrolls that support lanterns.
