Description
Nos 49 and 50 on Parliament Street in Westminster are a pair of terraced offices and chambers, rebuilt around 1880-1890 from 18th-century houses. They are constructed from Portland stone and topped with slate roofs, showcasing an eclectic Italianate and round arched style. The buildings rise five storeys and each features three windows across the front. The ground floor has been altered with a granite facade and a deep entablature-fascia. The first and second floor windows are corniced and architraved, while the third floor has arcaded windows. Sculptured panels are positioned between the first floor windows, and there are stone balconies on the first and second floors, with a cornice below the top floor. These buildings are included in the listing for their group value.
